JoyBoxx Toy Storage System Review

When you start to build a sex toy box, the box itself is probably the last thing on your mind. The box that houses your toys is not nearly as exciting as the sex toys themselves, amiright?

As uninteresting as it is, your sex toy box is very important- it's what keeps your toys safe from harm and away from prying eyes. I myself have used a variety of household containers to house my toys in the past, and as I've learned more about sex toys and sex toy materials, I've evolved the container with the toys themselves.

I used to use a plastic shoebox-size-container with a snap on lid, until I learned that certain kinds of plastics can interfere with each other and with silicone. So I moved to a nylon bag, which didn't last long because of the lint and fibers from the fabric sticking to the toys. Then, a cardboard "keepsake" box from a craft store, which wasn't exactly secure if you catch my drift. You probably don't. Basically, I kicked it by accident, knocked it over, and a rather large dildo rolled out- along with a black leather collar and bondage rope.

Needless to say, it was awkward. Anyway, when I moved I decided it was time to actually get a toy box for sex toys- something secure and clean and discreet. When I started looking for one, I was kind of surprised there wasn't that much out there that was intended for, solely designed for, sex toys. Basically the only thing I found was the JoyBoxx.

Now that I've had it awhile, I think the reason it's the only thing I could find is because it's the best thing you could possibly have for your toys. It seems like the people who designed JoyBoxx thought of EVERYTHING.

On the outside, it's made of a hard, smooth plastic without any texture where bacteria could hide, and is made including an antimicrobial agent for extra cleanliness. Something I didn't even think of when I started looking for a sex toy storage solution are the hidden vents- so you can put your toys away, freshly cleaned and still wet if you have to, and not have to worry about anything gross growing. You get the idea. Just… ew.

Inside the box, there's what the company calls a 'playtray'- a removable divider that you can take out, set your used toys on, then when you're done playing, take the whole tray and drop it right into the sink. Wash the tray, set it out to dry (I usually put it on a hand towel) and then wash the toys, and sit them on the tray, so it all dries at the same time. After it dries, I usually spray with toy cleaner- it won't hurt the fancy plastic tray, for sure.

The size is just perfect- small enough to tuck under the bed or inside a drawer, but quite spacious. At the risk of TMI, I've stored: a kinda big silicone dildo (like this one), two anal plugs, a Lelo vibrator, a handful of assorted small toys like erection rings and bullet vibes, a glass dildo (read my review of it here), two attachments for a massager, lube, and cleaner. I also have the little lid area at the top for other small things, like my lube launcher (read my review of here) extra batteries, condoms, little lube sample pillows, etc.

The Doxy magic wand style massager is actually the only toy I own that doesn't fit into the JoyBoxx… I could probably get it to fit, but I'd have to take everything else out to do so, and I don't really mind leaving the Doxy out, since I basically sleep with it under my pillow, anyway ;) Definitely TMI.

One feature of it I honestly didn't think I'd care about is the small charging opening on the back for a charging cable- so you can charge your toys without leaving them out on your nightstand. I live alone, so I didn't think that was something I'd ever need to use, but when company came over, it came in handy fast.

It also comes with a slider on the lid that locks the box closed, so you can pick it up without the lid flying open and spilling your dirty sexy secrets all over the floor. It even has a simple to use combo lock- this box would be extremely helpful for parents because of that combo lock. Like I said, they thought of everything.

My only real negative: I have to say, as much as I love this thing, I really wish it had a handle… I don't really take my sex toys to go, but it'd be handy. I think it'd be worth a few inches of vertical space to fit a handle into the lid, hopefully around the handy flip top.

Overall rating, 10/10. So instead of your toys rattling around in some crappy container, do yourself a favor and upgrade. The JoyBoxx will keep your toys safe, clean, and close at hand.
