God knows I wanted to love this toy.
Really, I wanted to LOVE it.
But the fact is sadly I don't. It's not that it's not awesome, it does exactly what it claims to do, it turns out it's just not the right toy for me. For years men have been getting a bit of the shaft when comes down to toys. Most often it's one reiteration of a jerk off sleeve or another.
But outside pocket pussies most toys have been relegated to prostate vibrators and plugs.
The Cobra Libre has stepped in to fill that void. And fill it does.

Now this might seem contradictory to my opening volley but let me explain.
At least some of the blame falls to me. I'm a stroker. Vibration does only so much for me and this toy is a VIBRATOR for men. It packs a punch and the sensations are intense. The dual motors are rumble heavy and produce an almost alien amount of stimulation to the glans. The settings also deliver on their promise to create a rhythm of sensations unlike any toy I've ever worked with. Some settings feel like the toy itself is moving (although it stays stationary) along the head of my penis. Some settings range from a light flutter (like a flicking tongue) or to a heavy rumbling pulse that travels all the way up the shaft into my pelvis.
IT is a very powerful toy at full bore.
So why don't I love it?
I'll get to that.

But first let's talk about the design. The Cobra Libre looks like a man's toy. Reminiscent of a the light cycles from Tron, it's race car sleek design and purposeful lines are awesome and very man friendly. A lot of thought went into this. It's hefty enough to feel of quality and the build is solid. Never when using this did is feel cheap or like it was at risk of falling apart. Fun Factory generally makes pretty solid feeling toys and this falls into step with that control. The solid body and high quality silicone insert are all one washable waterproof piece. The entry opening for the glans is stretchy but not too giving and gives a pretty firm grip. Curiously the penis isn't inserted more than two or so inches so the remainder of the shaft is left out.
Designed to be almost completely hands free (something I've been waiting for ever it seems) the Cobra Libre lays against the stomach or at the end of the penis away from the body (although it does get a bit heavy to just have it hanging off there). The controls are molded directly into the body and the three touch zones respond to contact but don't require pressing. The horizontal on/off switch also doubles as the pattern control, and the two touch zones above that act as increase/decrease for those patterns.
Touch and hold the on/off for a couple seconds and the Cobra Libre rumbles into life. Touch the button on the right side and the powerful dual motors switch from a rumble to a very intense and deep thrum. The button to the left decreases that power back to the basic lower rumbling.
The patterns themselves are harder to describe. Fun Factory does include a hand waveform guide, but like most waveform guides telling your penis this is supposed to feel like a series of consecutive squares with a dash doesn't translate. Really the only thing I can suggest is to scroll through the settings and find one that works for your needs. A couple of drops in the silicone penis vestibule is suggested but if you're prone to a fair bit of pre cum you might be good. I used a couple drops of JO lube and inserted the head of my penis and switched the Cobra Libre on ready to be whisked down the highway of ecstasy in the Weiner Nascar. And that's where I hit a speed bump.
As mentioned before the Cobra Libre packs plenty of power. The whole thing is a like a Hemi packed power plant for your boner. But as mentioned only the first two inches of your penis is inserted leaving the shaft of your penis just sort of left out in the proverbial cold. If you're a person who takes masturbating seriously (and I imagine someone willing to drop $150 on a toy does) you've probably gotten used to some amount of stroking. The Cobra Libre doesn't do anything in that respect. I can't help but feel like if more of the penis could fit further inside of the toy, I would have been imminently more satisfying. I did try on a subsequent occasion to stroke along my shaft while inside the Cobra (a sentence I never thought I'd write) and it did feel awesome, but it's hardly hands free then. Not that I'm lazy, I just kind of wanted the toy to do what it advertised.

In the end I ended up adding more lube to the interior and using it to stroke the head of my penis as it vibrated. If you're going to get one of these, I imagine you'd probably end up doing the same but if vibration play works for you on its own, then you're going to love this where I didn't.
It excels at vibrating. If they had attached this to a stroke sleeve they'd have a five star winner for sure. Put a stroke sleeve similar to a Tenga fliphole and put this device around it and you've set a new gold standard for male oriented sex toys.
In fact, I'm going to send this review to Fun Factory. I'm sure they've received enough suggestions in this regard but the squeaky wheel gets the grease right?
In summation: If you LOVE vibration play and that's enough to get you off you're probably going to want to add one of these to your pleasure chest. If you need more stroking to reach a full climax, then you may still want to get one of these and use it as part of your masturbatory adventures or forego it for something more stroke oriented toy like something from the Tenga line or a the Fleshlight.
