GlassWorks Midnight Mint Review

I had seen, heard of, read reviews of glass sex toys in the past, but my first encounter in person was at the sexpo in Montreal, after browsing the venders and ending up in the Lovedreamer booth. I ended up buying Midnight Mint, a beautiful dark-blue-almost-black dildo with two unique stimulators on either end. I chose it because of the delicate rainbowtastic glitter through the ribbed side and the color, which when held up to the light very nearly glows blue. 

 
I know what you're thinking, and it was my first thought, as well. Okay, second thought, after "Ooh, pretty!"

  

"Glass? But what if it breaks?!" It's a valid concern, so after ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the display, I spoke to a sexpert on staff. She assured me that not only are the toys made of super durable Pyrex glass, they're backed with a lifetime warranty. She tapped it on her hand, twisted it, then promptly banged it on the table, all without so much as a scratch. "You'd have to drop it straight on concrete, and even then it'd probably crack before shattering." Naturally, don't try this at home. That's just stupid. I have, however, accidentally dropped it in my sink. And on the floor. And once on a table. I may not be graceful, but I am impressed.

I questioned her further and she was knowledgeable and patient. Yes, it's completely sanitary, more so than most materials. Yes, it can be boiled or put through the dishwasher, and yes, works with every lube under the sun. She also introduced me to a few handy tricks, one of which made me basically throw money at her and run-walk to the nearest bathroom. (Just kidding.)

Glass toys are very easy to temperature control- give it a few minutes it in a bowl of ice water and bam, a whole new sensation, a deliciously icy chill that rolls up your spine. Go opposite and use a bowl of warm (not too hot) water, and it's a warm, cozy friend on a chilly night. This is especially great if you're the type to shy away from cold toys- never deal with that initial shock again. Next, she had me hold out my hand and touch my forefinger and thumb together, binocular style. She rotated the glass against my palm, showing just how effective the dual stimulation sides of the Midnight Mint could be. One side I've affectionately dubbed "nubsy", the other "stripes". Because of the shape of the toy (with the shift in the middle), it can be used almost like a mechanical crank (man, that sounds terrible), by which I mean rotated for a wider area of stimulation.

But the best tip, the 'shut up and take my money' tip is that glass transfers vibrations really well. The sexpert demonstrated this with a cock ring. I was beyond surprised at how well the vibrations could be felt at the top of the toy with the ring around the bottom end- and my eyes immediately glazed over with thoughts of my wand style vibrator becoming best friends with the glass (they're totally BFFs nowadays). Having personally tested each of these tricks, my only regret is not taking advantage of the special pricing to get two, because after using the Midnight Mint dildo I purchased, I wish I had more beautiful glass pieces in my collection.

Besides being gorgeous and delightfully glittery, the glass is a surprisingly versatile toy- nay, work of erotic art. Even without these handy tips, the ultra-smooth finish and hefty but comfortable weight of the glass is divine and completely unique to toys made of high quality glass.
